There are many who not only lose hair on the scalp but also lose hair on the body, eyebrows and eyelashes.

Hair loss in men is due to genetic disorder and can be in the form of receding hairline, thinning of hair around the crown, and developing bald spots on the scalp . In pregnant women it has been found that hair loss is put on a temporary hold and after some time there is rapid hair loss. Hair loss in teens is a temporary issue. Thyroid, teen medications and skin diseases are some of the few causes where a teenaged person losses his or her hair. Hair grows for a period of 2-6 years and then there is a dormant phase where there is not growth at all and eventually these hairs die and fall off and new hair grows from the hair follicle and it has been proved that hair grows up to 6 inches in a year. If your hair does not get enough protein nourishment then there is no re-growth and slowly you start losing your hair. Thyroid disease, kidney and liver aliments, cancer and lupus are some of the reasons where there people have lost their hairs rapidly and excessively. Use of medicines like Lithium, diet pills with amphetamines and chemotherapy drugs are major reasons for hair loss. Alopecia Areata is a type of skin disease that causes hair loss on the scalp and other places in the body. Trichotilloomania is another type of disorder where hair loss is due to pulling of hair. People who suffer from eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia suffer from hair loss. Excessive use of chemicals to treat hair, shampoos, hair styles worn too tight are reasons leading to hair loss.
